I am a Mount Airy local mother of three in my first official year of homeschooling. I started my homeschool journey when my oldest was 2 years old with Craft-N-Play hosting local educational weekday events. I expanded my community connection when my second daughter turned 2 years old with Nature Play, a nature based academic preschool group. As my community connections grew and I saw a large number of families looking for homeschool community in the area, my Learn-with-Me Co-op was established.
We are now in year three of Learn-with-Me! In order to reach a larger circle of homeschooling families, I establish The HOMEschool of Mt. Airy to be the hub for community connections, communication, and homeschooling support. My hope has always been to help families feel empowered in their educational choices and assist them in finding resources to fit their familiy needs while connecting them to our community.
In addition to all of my personal homeschooling ventures, I am also a board member of the Mount Airy Main Street Association (MAMSA) and participate in a local 4-H and Girl Scout Group with my girls. As my kiddos age, I look connect them more and more with our town and community so that they know that education is more than the lessons we do at home.
By the time my youngest is officially homeschooling, I hope to have an establish hub of resources for anyone who is looking or is currently homeschooling in our four county area.
